Project Transformation

Project Transformation

Project Transformation is a high quality, structured summer literacy camp with an emphasis on reading for underserved children in the Bartlesville community. We focus on developing the mind, body, and spirit of participants and help them reach their full potential.

Project Transformation at First Church is staffed by two site supervisors, two volunteer site coordinators, and seven college-age interns. The site supervisors and coordinators are responsible for oversight and making sure the program runs smoothly, while the interns are responsible for modifying and teaching the statewide curriculum to fit the needs and interests of the children at our site.

Please see Project Transformation for more information.

Students of all backgrounds are welcome to attend. (You are not required to be members of First Church.) We are a reading camp, so those who read at or below their grade reading level or who are at the highest risk of dropping below grade level without literacy support are given priority enrollment. Campers must have completed Kindergarten-4th grade by June 2019 to be considered for acceptance.

Applications are available through your child’s reading teacher, at the church (4715 Price Road), or by mail (call Jena at 918-336-3361 to request one). If we fill all available spots, additional applicants will be put on a waiting list. Parents of accepted children will be notified by May 20.

Family Fun Nights

Dates for two family fun nights will be announced the first week of camp. The first will be an open house style evening where parents will experience an abbreviated day at camp with their children. The second will be a final concert by the children and award ceremony. A free family dinner will be served at both!

There is a one-time $5 supply fee for families who are able to pay, but scholarships are available upon request.
